It houses the piercing reflections of mankind's hope, fear, self-doubt, passion, joy, despair, brilliance, destitution, and desire. It becomes the image of all that man hopes to be, yearns to achieve, and knows he has destroyed. Theatrical performance is without equal in its ability to conjure visible truth from the reflection man sees everyday and hopelessly fails to recognize. Ultimately, theatre demands that man see himself without the masks of excuse, ignorance, or makeup. It is the vision of this journey to honor theatre's mask-less demand. Through the development of a multi-scene theatrical performance; the collection and analysis of relevant research material; and the cultivation of a comprehensive journal outlining the processes, the challenges, and the revelations that will travel the same road--from the cluttered moments of conception to the still air of an empty room after an exhausting final bow--only a mirror will remain. Each component--production, research, and journal--will function as equally essential elements. They will illuminate the evolution of fully realized theatre and detail the composition of a common theatrical message: Truth is both the seed of desperation and discovery.

With her mother dead, political squabbles consume the knitting witch's coven and rival magical families put pressure on her to give up the quilts, including the dangerous Ma family, whose daughter the knitting witch loves. The knitting witch must navigate a forbidden romance, master her magical craft, and fend off her mother's many enemies, all while searching for the hidden quilts. Once she finds the quilts, will she use them as her mother did to take power in the magical city of witches? Or will she find another way to survive, choosing love over power?The stories of queer women are unusual in the fantasy genre, bisexual stories even more so. This work hopes to amplify queer female narratives and draw attention specifically to the issues that bisexual women face in their family and romantic relationships. This thesis explores the question of how and why we love people who hurt us.

The performance of X: The Rise and Fall of an Asylum Star, in conjunction with my thesis document, investigates the dichotomy of fantasy and reality for a performer. I compare the creative and emotional journey of Augustine, a young woman hospitalized for hysteria, to my own journey as an actress. Augustine was also performer, for her doctors led her in public demonstrations of the symptoms of hysteria. Her "talent" for hysteria earned her notoriety and celebrity. She was coached and directed from her doctors to enhance her demonstrations. As a result, the validity and authenticity of her state was questionable. I compare the performative qualities of hysteria with my own states of drama as a performer and draw parallels between us, looking specifically at states of experience, both imagined and real.

Lawrence Caligny, a young cook newly instated at a castle, is coerced by his mother, an infamous witch named Mallory, to concoct a sleeping potion for the country's crown prince, beckoning comparison to the "Sleeping Beauty" fairy...

The novel, while containing elements of fantasy, will be character-driven and feature psychological character development as its primary goal. Lawrence Caligny, a young cook newly instated at a castle, is coerced by his mother, an infamous witch named Mallory, to concoct a sleeping potion for the country's crown prince, beckoning comparison to the "Sleeping Beauty" fairy tale. As Lawrence prepares for his opportunity, he unwittingly befriends the prince and his sister and stumbles across an assassination plot. Being thoroughly inept at witchcraft himself, Lawrence fails to put the prince to sleep when he gets the chance, knocking out the entirety of the castle inhabitants and staff instead. The story concludes with the revival of those in the castle and Lawrence being fired from his (ignominious) position in the kitchens, but otherwise pardoned in acknowledgement of his help in stopping the assassination.

The subject matter illustrates my friends and myself acting out interpersonal issues with paper representations of one another. It has been my aim to represent my imagery in a campy thematic way. The subject matter illustrates my friends and myself acting out interpersonal issues with paper representations of one another. It has been my aim to represent my imagery in a campy thematic way. I include a discussion of the images in my body of work from both my perspective and the perspective of my models. The figurative paper images (")stand in(") as representatives of the genders of their subjects.I have explored multiple points of view, constructing, reconstructing and deconstructing complex compositions; experimenting with a variety of focal points; and I have increased my knowledge of lighting and color effects through digital manipulation.
